Geetha Sundar’s oeuvre spans more than a decade with paintings across various genres including oil, acrylic, water color, and crayons. Throughout her practice she has displayed an unwavering relationship with landscape realism, and the nature of things. Inspired by a wide range of sources and making practices, she employs the readymade in a wide arc of meaning and transformation. Geetha’s works are an embodiment of her resilience throughout her life having had to face a multitude of challenges at a young age. Her works thus appear to move through time, using reference as a counterpoint and contradiction as a visual tool. Her stories combine references that are at once topical and traditional yet poetic.
Geetha studied her Foundation Course in Art at the JJ School of Arts, Mumbai and received a graphic design degree from C-DAC, Mumbai. She currently stays in Mumbai with her family focusing on her art, spending most of her time either painting or practicing yoga.
