Mumbai in its own creative space can never be compared when it is preparing itself for KALAGHODA [ Black Horse – It’s a name of a street] FESTIVAL. It has been conducted from 1999.But this year [2021] it has become online. Every year art enthusiasts from all walks of life display their work, conduct workshops, perform dance and drama. New products are on display from all over the state, country and the world. It is an amalgamation of all kinds of creative talent on exhibition. Any person shall walk through without a prior ticket for any event, workshop, movie etc. What has attracted me more is that the people are thronging the place to enjoy the creativity displayed and the urge to learn new things is exceptional. The beauty is that all the art installations are kept on the road side!.
I am sharing here some of the art installations displayed in 2012, “KALAGHODA FESTIVAL”.
1] It really gives message to the public that without giving to the world we can not survive.
2] This picture actually induces thinking and prompts us to share whatever with the needy.
3] This picture shows how affected we are by noise pollution around us.
4] The importance of meditation in our life is depicted here and how we are simply avoiding it in our mad rush for materialism.
5] Fear accumulates in our mind like garbage; we have to throw our fears, negative thoughts and free ourselves from them.
6] Think Blue means to protect and save water first and then make the planet green as 70% of the world’s area is covered by water. [Oklahoma Aquarium’s educational programme.]
7] The picture below is self-explanatory.
8] Art work is displayed along with the explanation
9] Horse and Lantern are made from recycled waste material which is sustainable
10] The ill- effects of smoking are well explained.
11] Crow which is found everywhere has become a part of our life.
12] Round shape is made with colourful umberllas.
It is really a wonderful experience to visit Kalaghoda Festival as it enhances one’s perception. However, it portrays the trivial and at the same time gives a strong message to the general population. The creativity gives more meaning and a vibrant look to the festival.
Do visit Kalaghoda festival if in Mumbai during the month of February.
